چکیده

Intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRSs) are envisioned to provide reconfigurable wireless environments for future communication networks. In this paper, both downlink and uplink IRS-aided non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) orthogonal (OMA) networks studied, in which an IRS is deployed enhance the coverage by assisting a cell-edge user device (UD) communicate with base station (BS). To characterize system performance, new channel statistics of BS-IRS-UD link Nakagami- $m$ fading investigated. For each scenario, closed-form expressions outage probability ergodic rate derived. gain further insight, diversity order high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) slope scenario obtained according asymptotic approximations high-SNR regime. It demonstrated that affected number elements Nakagami parameters, but not related these parameters. Simulation results validate our analysis reveal superiority over full-duplex decode-and-forward relay.

Meta Distribution of the SIR in Large-Scale Uplink and Downlink NOMA Networks

We develop an analytical framework to derive the meta distribution and moments of the conditional success probability (CSP), which is defined as success probability for a given realization of the transmitters, in large-scale co-channel uplink and downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks with one NOMA cluster per cell. The moments of CSP translate to various network performance me...

Dynamic Joint Uplink and Downlink Optimization for Uplink and Downlink Decoupling-Enabled 5G Heterogeneous Networks

The concept of user-centric and personalized service in the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks encourages technical solutions such as dynamic asymmetric uplink/downlink resource allocation and elastic association of cells to users with decoupled uplink and downlink (DeUD) access. In this paper we develop a joint uplink and downlink optimization algorithm for DeUD-enabled wireless networks fo...

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) in Cellular Uplink and Downlink: Challenges and Enabling Techniques

By combining the concepts of superposition coding at the transmitter(s) and successive interference cancellation (SIC) at the receiver(s), non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has recently emerged as a promising multiple access technique for 5G wireless technology. In this article, we first discuss the fundamentals of uplink and downlink NOMA transmissions and outline their key distinctions (i...

Performance Analysis of cooperative SWIPT System: Intelligent Reflecting Surface versus Decode-and-Forward

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...

Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) in Poisson Networks

A network model is considered where Poisson distributed base stations transmit to N power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) users (UEs) each that employ successive interference cancellation (SIC) for decoding. We propose three models for the clustering of NOMA UEs and consider two different ordering techniques for the NOMA UEs: mean signal power-based and instantaneous signalto-inter...
